On July 30th, 2021, it was announced that the Visual Communication Design Study Program won the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) international assessment after undergoing the assessment process from June 28th – July 2nd, 2021.
AUN-QA is an international assessment standard of outcome-based education governance for members of universities in ASEAN, which can be used as a benchmark in showing the ability to guarantee the quality of a university’s education.
Stefanus Bambang Widiatnolo, S.T., M.M., as the Education Quality Assurance Manager of UMN, stated that there were 11 evaluation indicators which included: curriculum, process and learning assessment; Expected Learning Outcome (ELO) or Graduate Learning Outcomes; Human Resources; facilities and infrastructure supporting student learning; quality enhancement or sustainable quality development; especially outcome-based education or outcomes as a reflection of the quality of education.
Based on the assessment results, the VCD of UMN obtained an Adequate as Expected score, proving that the VCD of UMN’s management was on par with ASEAN-level standards. This is certainly not the end of the achievement; through this participation, the VCD of UMN’s also received a lot of helpful input in maintaining and improving the existing education management to gain other international recognition to make UMN a world-class university.
Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., as UMN’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, hopes that achieving an international predicate can increase cooperation networks with foreign institutions and open opportunities for students abroad to study at UMN.
Dr. Ninok Leksono, as Rector of UMN, expressed his gratitude for the smooth running of the AUN-QA evaluation process and hoped that this could strengthen UMN’s position in regional and international higher education.
